Corkickle

Corkickle is named after the local postal address where Glenfield is located. A visiting historian guest tells us that this pretty name is derived from the Irish Corr (a raised piece of land) and an early spelling of The River Keekle. Thus “High ground above the River Keekle”

Corkickle has its own railway station (a request stop!) that makes arrival by train particularly convenient.

Corkickle, the flagship room in the house, provides flexible accommodation: a luxury double room with upholstered chairs, coal effect fire and hidden lighting providing a romantic atmosphere. The chairs can be transformed into high quality single beds.

Located on the first floor and from an elevated position the rooms have a far-reaching view over south-west Whitehaven.

Decorated in red and gold, and along with all the usual extras a mini fridge, flat screen TV and DVD player are provided..

The opulent en-suite facilities are wood panelled with a spectacular bay window and include hand wash, W C and an impressive power shower over a very large bath.
