Even from remote Whitehaven it is possible to explore and enjoy the quiet and beauty of the western Lake District and the stunning Cumbrian coast.

Rail and bus travel does require a little planning but with Corkickle rail station only a few minutes walk from Glenfield and a bus stop right outside the front door popular destinations are accessible.

Access to Eskdale is excellent and, with some pre-arrangement, Wasdale Head can be a public transport objective.

Thanks to the excellent Traveline information available visits to Workington, Cockermouth and Keswick are really practicable.

The Cumbrian coast rail line north through Maryport and on to Carlisle is enjoyable and the line south of Corkickle provides unique and stunning views.
