The first stop is the village of St Bees. The village is unusually set back from the beach by ½ mile. The village is quite large but very pretty. A stroll around the back streets will reveal a host of curios from bygone times. The beach is lovely with good swimming in cold water but the headlands must be avoided.
On to Britain’s favourite view at Wasdale with the near vertical screes tumbing into Wastwater.
Pause in Nether Wasdale with enchanting low level walks together with good lunch facilities.
On to Ravenglass and Eskdale. Castles, narrow gauge rail and Roman history with a selection of walks to suit all tastes and abilities.
