It has been known to rain in the Lake District. The coastal strip including Whitehaven tends to enjoy slightly better weather but it can rain here as well.

Despite that, there are attractions that can be enjoyed during inclement weather. We don’t particularly enjoy walking the fells in heavy rain so we are not going to recommend that.

The covered attractions of the area are scattered and need seeking out so we have put together a selection of our choices.

Inevitably, some of these suggestions are repeated elsewhere but all of them are worth a visit whether the weather is fair or foul.
